Okanagan Mountain Provincial Park Trip
October 9-10, 2013 Day 1 After a short bus ride we unloaded our backpacks at the trailhead and headed out for the 12km hike to Commando Bay. The weather was perfect as we hiked the hills of the park through Wild Horse Canyon. Near the end of the canyon we dropped our packs, took our lunches and hiked to the top of the Rim trail where we enjoyed spectacular views while eating lunch. After lunch we hiked the remaining 3km to Commando Bay. We quickly set-up camp and started the campstoves for dinner. Dinner was followed by stories around the campfire and lights out at 10pm. Day 2 It was an early wake-up at 6:30am. After taking our tents down and packing up, breakfast tasted fantastic. A final check of the campsite and it was back on the trail. The weather was variable with a few showers along the way. Another great hike through the amazing Wild Horse Canyon where we saw a mother bear with her two cubs. The end of the day saw 30 very happy, tired hikers ready to put there feet up and eat a big meal. |
