Manning Park Camping Trip
During June OE8 students will be participating in a camping trip to Manning Park Provincial Park This trip is unique and presents its own particular challenges, inherent risks, and fitness levels. *All parents of OE students are required to be informed of all risks and activities for the year as directed by SD 23 policies. Manning Provincial Park
This trip involves 3 days and 2 nights at Manning Provincial Park Group Campground. Trip difficulty is moderate. Day 1 - Bus pick-up at SMS (9am) -Drive to Princeton for lunch. Bring some money for lunch or bring a bag lunch. -Drive to Manning Park. Set up camp. -Hike the Lightning Lake Loop trail -Dinner. Stories around the campfire. -Lights out 10pm. Day 2 - Day hike to the summit of Skyline Trail (8 hours return trip). Day 3 - Pack up camp. Bus pick-up at 10am -Drive to Canyon river hike (2km loop) -Drive to Princeton for lunch. Bring money for lunch -Return to SMS. Arrival time approximately 2-3pm. MEALS REQUIRED Wednesday: -Breakfast at home -Lunch in Princeton (bring money or a bagged lunch) Subway, Booster Juice, A&W, Petrocan -Dinner at campsite - Hot Dog roast around the campfire (Dinner supplied) Thursday: -Breakfast at campsite (instant oatmeal, granola, cereal) -Lunch on the trail (bagel, cheese, beef jerkey, power bars, apple, trail mix, cut-up veggies, pepperoni sticks, etc.) -Dinner at campsite - Students will be cooking their own dinner.
