Manning Park Provincial Park Trip Report
Day 1 After a quick stop in Princeton for lunch Mr. Kirk, Mr. Aeckersberg and 31 Outdoor Ed students drove to Manning Park to set-up camp at the Lone Duck Group Site. Once all of the tents were up we hiked for about 2 hours around Lightning and Flash Lake (6km total). Dinner at 6pm, stories around the campfire and lights out at 9pm. Day 2 Up for an early breakfast as this is a challenging day. Today's hike was the Skyline Trail Loop. After hiking to Strawberry Flats, we turned up to the mountains above the Lightning Lakes chain. Lunch was at a spectacular viewpoint on Skyline Ridge. Total hiking time was 8 hours. Total distance 25km. Everyone returned to camp weary, but with an amazing sense of accomplishment. What an fabulous group of Outdoor Ed students. Day 3 Today we completed the beautiful Three Falls hike. After hiking past the Gibson's Pass Ski Resort we entered the incredibly beautiful ecosystem of the Three Falls Valley Trail. We had great views of Shadow Falls and ate lunch above spectacular Derek Falls. Total hiking time 6 hours. Total distance 18km. Day 4 After a leisurly breakfast camp was packed up.
